So I've been moving around and I finally settled on a new gym.

The squat rack ain't too good.

I'm really worried the safety might be too high.

    Check out my depth, coaches.

Lot's of love from The World's Asshole, can't even find a decent gym here.

If it's too high I need some ideas to fix that, thanks, coachbroes.

Oh and also other form checking is welcome as usual.

    Thanks.

They're awfully close/borderline. I think 1-3 and 5 just make it, but 4 isn't quite low enough. Ideally they'd be just a bit lower, however I see why that might be an issue with the non-adjustable safety there. Sorry you can't find a better gym situation. Any other racks at that gym to use?

How much height do I need on these squats?

I'm thinking of using a wooden plank.

    Don't understand this Q.

You mean standing on a plank to increase your height, so you can squat clearly below parallel without hitting the safety? Ya, that could work. Make sure whatever you're standing on is something you don't need to worry about falling off of, and that it's super solid and stable.

On of my gyms has a rack just like that. It is the worst. I can't unrack or rack in it, the pin height is TERRIBLE and they are weird.

It sucks, I searched the entire country for a gym with a decent squat rack. This is the only one I found.

Most of them don't even have squat racks.

Oh sorry, Coach Wolf, I'm all over the place, I meant how much extra depth do I need to make the squat proper? So I can get a plank or a platform with specific thickness in mind.

An inch would be fine, but you might want to get something 2-3 inches thick, since controlling depth that precisely at heavy weights is extremely difficult.

Looks like I can do it without a platform after all.

Ha! Don't forget to "keep weight on heals," as recommended.
