Hi, I'm looking to lift using the practical programming novice program but the one issue with it is that I play football three times a week (social standard but still a good run out), on a Monday, a Tuesday and a Thursday. Is there any way I can use this program AND play football? I've no issue with lifting on the same day as playing football if that's a way of working around this.

So I'm looking to incorporate the below:

    A. Squat, bench, press and chins
    B. Squat, bench, press and deadlifts
    A. Squat, bench, press and pull ups

    Thanks.

Just lift on the days you don't play. Ta-dum!

Ha, I guess I could look at doing that. In terms of recovery, will I be hindering that a little bit? Squatting 3x a week and running 3x a week sounds taxing on the body.

Sure, just like playing and practicing any sport and lifting concurrently is taxing. Most athletes do it though, because being stronger makes you a better athlete. The best part is that as a novice, the performance increases are quickly realized, and you'll become a much better athlete in a very short period of time. Eat for performance and sleep for recovery, you'll be fine.
