Peter Mulvey intended to put out a jazz standards album and then it morphed into something else, which I think is pretty decent.

Bravo. I'd never have pegged you for a jazz man. Most people wouldn't even know who Wynton Kelly is.

I was referring to Wynton Marsalis. I'm not familiar with his namesake's version of that tune.

Oh that Wynton. Wynton Kelly played on Miles Davis' Kind of Blue, but only on the Freddie Freeloader track. Wynton Kelly also played piano on what is considered one of the best jazz guitar albums of all time, Wes Montgomery's Smokin At The Half Note.

Yeah, Bill Evans played on FtF.

No, it's Wynton. Check the liner notes. He subbed in. Evans is on all the other tracks.

Somewhere there's an awesome interview with Ron Carter where he goes off on this tangent about how much it pisses him off that Wynton Marsalis just goes by "Wynton", when all the older guys used "Wynton" to refer to Wynton Kelly.

That being said, Wynton Marsalis is the shit.
