Default PSA: Starting Strength Based Barbell Club in Manhattan

PSA for those who live and/or work in NYC: Beginning tonight, I'll be leading the strength program at Crossfit Solace, in Manhattan on 32nd St. and Park Ave.

We'll be meeting Mon/Wed/Fri from 7:00-8:30pm, and lifting and coaching will all be in accordance with the Starting Strength model. This is not a crossfit class that includes some lifting; it's a dedicated barbell club with the same people attending every session, and doing a linear progression (or other appropriate programming for older populations or more advanced lifters) on the basic barbell lifts, culminating in a 'Strengthlifting' Squat/Press/Deadlift informal 'meet' event at the end of each (approximately) 8 week cycle.

Class size is limited to 10, to ensure ample coaching and attention for all members of the cycle. I'm very excited to bring the first Starting Strength based program to Manhattan, joining Jeremy's very successful program at CFSBK as more and more people in NYC understand the importance of strength in general and Starting Strength specifically. The team at Solace has been extremely supportive in every way. More cycles will be added as demand grows.

Anyone interested or with any questions can check out the website linked above, or email me at WolfStrengthInfo@gmail.com for more info.

An opportunity you poor bastards in NYC should take advantage of.

If we only want access to your class do we still need to buy the full monthly membership?

Yes. Once the initial two weeks have passed, during which we'll allow members to drop in to try it, all people in the strength cycle will only be doing strength cycle and not any CrossFit. So your membership fee covers the strength cycle.

Considering that it's a 90 min class, three days per week, the program includes at least18 hours/month of coaching in a smaller class size than the regular CrossFit (capped at 10 instead of 15) so the value for your dollar is actually quite high.

Obviously you can't compare it directly to 1-on-1 coaching, but broken down hourly, it's something like $16/hour. Which is an absolute steal, especially in NYC.
