Checking Practical Programming, 3rd edition, p. 236 says light weights to restore function during rehab, and then once cleared for "unrestricted activity", a "simple progression" until return to pre-injury strength. It doesn't mention how far to back off for the start of that, but I guess I can err on the light side and feel it out.

Is this discussed in more detail in a particular article by you? A forum member who had shoulder surgery last year was kind enough to send me an article by Wendler in which he mentions doing an exercise devised by you during rehab. Have you written your own article on this?

Just had the surgery and the arm is in some kind of abducted sling, but not immobilized (not that I can move it now with the nerve block). Odd. Surgeon must have changed his mind and become more progressive.

That abducted position is going to be damned uncomfortable when the block wears off, Dave. I don't know why they do this to us.

Because they definitely know what's the best way for you to recover from their tender ministrations, obviously.

Worse, the nurse put the sling on wrong so weight of arm was on my neck. Think I fixed it, but going to their office in the morning to get it fixed.

Meantime, I'm in the ER. Feel like my throat is closing up. Probably just irritation from getting intubated, but figure better safe than sorry.

A bunch of crazy people and a long wait at that ER so I left. Got a nebulizer and am trying that.

Yeah. Good news is the ortho took out that adductor pillow when he fixed the sling today.
