Power clean movement question
From the floor to the jump position, should the lift feel almost like two seperate movements?
I am trying to follow the book, but I have also seen some coaches recommend holding off the pull until the upper body is perpendicular vertical before starting the jump phase. Why would they recommend that?

I'm not sure I understand your question.
We teach the power clean from the top down. Once you're at the point where you're doing the entire movement, you learn to do it correctly by dragging the bar slowly up your legs until you reach the jumping position, which is the trigger for you to explode - jump-n'-catch. Eventually you'll accelerate the bar earlier in the movement, but we go slow for learning purposes so you learn to do it the same way - and correctly - every time.
