The only thing I'd add to the above is, if in doubt, make sure you start light when you first go to 8s. 40 reps is a lot more total volume than 25 reps, even at 10% lower weight, and 8s take a couple of weeks to get conditioned to. I started at about 70% of 1RM for 8 x 5 and am adding 2.5-5kgs each week. You should still have a rep or two in the tank at the end of the last set.
