I just got me a pair of Adidas weight-lifting shoes, so I was a bit wobbly on my feet at first. Like being on stilts! Got used to it rather quickly, tho, and enjoyed the effect on the squat.
I have been using an old pair of work-boots from when I was a car mechanic many years ago. They were not ideal for lifting, but better than soft shoes.

    So, on to today's session.

    SQ : 90 kg x 5 x 3 ( 198 lb ) A bit different with the new shoes, but no problems.

    BP : 62 kg x 5 x 3 ( 137 lb )

    BR : 80 kg x 5 x 3 ( 176 lb )

    BC : 32 kg x 5 x 2 ( 70,5 lb ) + 27,5 kg x 10 x 1

I was going to try the power cleans again today, but quickly realized it was the wrong day for such foolishness, so I did the barbell rows and the curls instead.

I'm so glad that Rip says power cleans are contraindicated to some extent for geezers my age. They scare the cr*p out of me!

LOL, yes, I have yet to unravel the secret of the power clean. I haven't given up on it, but I think I have to try to figure it out on in-between days ... I don't know.

    SQ : 92,5 kg x 5 x 2 + 92,5 kg x 8 x 1 ( 204 lb ) I felt good during the last set, so I kept going. And I had energy for a couple of back-off sets too.

OP : 49,5 kg x 5 x 3 ( 109 lb ) I had problems with the press the last time, so I decided to repeat last times weights. It was much better this time, I did two back-off sets as well.

DL : 125 kg x 5 x 1 ( 276 lb ) The dead-lift both makes me both nervous and elated at the same time. Had to use the hook-grip, but I definitely need to get some tape for the thumbs.

    I feel good now!

Time for some pasta with tomato sauce and spicy meatballs. And a couple of beers.

I've found that a few 16oz curls really improve my recovery.

Woke up with a sore throat and no energy, so I wasn't sure how this would work out. Only one way to find out.

    The Squat: 97,5 kg x 5 x 3 ( 215 lb ) + back-off sets 80 kg x 5 x 2. That was all right.

The Press: 50 kg x 5 x 3 ( 110 lb ) . Well that was the plan, at least. Something happened at the first set, I only got 4 reps in. So I did 6 reps on the 3rd set to compensate. Back-off sets was 40 kg x 5 x 2.

    The Deadlift: 130 kg x 5 x 1 ( 287 lb ) . Almost. I couldn't get the 4th rep off the floor. Waited for about 20 seconds and did the last two reps. So let's say 130 kg x 3 + 130 kg x 2. Holy crap that was heavy. Did a back-off set of 100 kg x 5 x 1, that was easy in comparison.

So that worked out all right, throat is still sore, but that can't be helped.

I was supposed to lift yesterday, but life got in the way. So I lifted today instead.

Did the usual warm-up sets on all lifts.

    The squat : 100 kg x 5 x 2 + 100 kg x 8 x 1 ( 220 lb ). The first set was really hard, but I felt good during the last set and did 3 extra reps. Then I did 2 back-off sets of 80 kg x 5 x 2.

    The bench press : 64 kg x 5 x 3 ( 141 lb ) + back-off sets of 50 kg x 5 x 2 . Have to remember to not press the back of my head down into the bench.

Barbell rows : Did 2 sets of 85 kg x 5 ( 187 lb ). Then I got bored and restless, so I tried a set of sumo deadlift at 60 kg x 5 just to see what it was like. I like the conventional deadlift better.

Then I tried the snatch grip deadlift to see what that was like. That was more fun, 60 kg x 5. I might do more of those in the future.

I really should get going on the power clean, tho.

The usual warm up sets on all lifts.

    The squat : 102,5 kg x 5 x 3 ( 226 lb ) . I may have done 6 or 7 reps on that last set. Was seeing stars and lost count. Did two back-off sets at 85 kg x 5 x 2.

    The press : 50,5 kg x 5 x 3 ( 111 lb ) . Back-off sets 45 kg x 5 x 2. Normal slow press.

The deadlift : 135 kg x 5 x 1 ( 298 lb ) . Huh! That was very heavy as usual. The back-off set at 90 kg x 5 x 1 was easy. I used the hook grip on the work set, and normal DOH grip on the warm up and back-off sets.

Now for some dinner and a beer!
