I have a feeling that this question is going to get a simple one-line response, but what the hell, I'll take my chances.
I have both SS and PP, and both are great books about strength training. Your methods of becoming as strong as possible in the fastest amount of time simply cannot be argued against as being the best! The only thing is that I really like to use other rep ranges from time to time for various reasons, one being endurance, and another being for faster size gains.
I like to switch up my training every couple months from a lower rep, strength based routine to a routine that uses various rep ranges (5x5's, 3x15's, and 4x10's, etc..). If, during my strength period I find that I am able to increase the weight from workout to workout, such as in your prescribed novice progression, I'd do just that. Otherwise, I would work with one of your intermediate programs, probably the texas method during the strength period.
But after a few months of shooting for PR's, I like to back off the intensity for a couple months, and do "hypertrophy" routines using the higher rep ranges and much shorter rest times. I like switching it up like that.
Obviously, any weight lifting routine is going to give you both strength and size providing you eat enough, but I still enjoy doing these higher rep, bodybuilding "hypertrophy" routines.
I was just wondering what your thoughts on that type of training are?
