Power Clean Coaching Needed
Mark,
I noticed you mentioned that one of the above posters needs a coach badly. So do I! If you ever come to NJ/NY let me know. I'll hire you. Please take a look at my clean and let me know what you see and what I can improve on. Thanks for taking the time.

There's not much wrong, just need to quit jumping forward. But I am too expensive to hire.

Thanks Mark. I have to work on keeping my elbows straight until after the shrug and racking the bar better and I can do that. When you say "jumping forward" I understand, but is the focus on jumping straight up, or slightly back? Also, some people have pointed out to me that my starting stance might be a little too high, but for me it seems like the only way I can get my shoulders over the bar and still have a pretty straight back. The lower I get, the more my shoulders are even with the bar and my back angle changes. To be honest I am totally confused. I think if I just had someone to tell me "this is how you should start" I would be able to do it. Right now I am just experimenting and to top it off I injured my lower back squatting. So since you are too expensive to hire, I'll come to you. You just let me know when and where... money is no object... unless it's expensive! I'm serious though, I would do it if it's possible. Let me know, and thanks for the advice and the great book. Talk to you later.

I think your jumping position is okay. On second inspection, you're jumping forward because of your position off the floor: the bar is leaving the ground and going forward instead of staying over the middle of your foot or at least getting back there on the way up to the knees. I tmight help you to think about jumping back, which will tend to correct the problem when you attempt to do the overcompensation.
My CrossFit Basic Barbell seminars are actually quite reasonably priced for the huge amount of information we provide, about 18 hours of constant info and work over 2 days. You'd prolly have to take a plane to WF anyway.

Mark,
Can you send me some info on the seminars or direct me where to find the info? Thanks.

The links are in this reply box. Look for the one that says "Basic Barbell Certification", about one inch from these words.
