Default Self Destruction and Personal Responsibility?

    10/24/2016

    Deadlifts: 325 x5, 325x3*, 325x5

    RDL: 190x8x2

    BB Shrugs: 235x20x2

    * After a difficult/mixed bag weekend, wounded heart that good news couldn't quite overcome, I planned to train with a vengeance. Was doing the first set strict and catch the bounce off the floor on the other two. Had my ear buds crammed in place and cranked up 80's head banging Judas Priest's British Steel. With my ears practically bleeding from the volume, I commenced to pull and bounce through the set.

At the third rep, I could hear something over the music looked at Coach Diego and figured out he was yelling something so loud I could hear but not understand over the heavy metal motivation. Sat the bar down, noticed everyone was looking, pulled out one ear bud and heard "DON'T BOUNCE THE WEIGHT!".
Whereupon I stuck my tongue out, everyone laughed (including Diego), after an 8 minute rest, completed the final set without cheating.

Left the gym and realized on the way home that my aggression, self destruction and pain was left behind at the gym. Training truly can be Barbell Medicine.

Went and had the best night's sleep in quite a while.

4 days until the Starting Strength Fall Classic.

As of yesterday I have lost 32 pounds since July so my squat seems to suffer. (That's my story anyway) I'd be happy to hit the 320 I did at May's powerlifting meet. Deadlift, 405 without straps. OHP 190. Those are not the openers and can go up or down depending on how the day progresses.

    What about you Carson?

Thanks slowmotion. Am really looking forward to it and if nothing else I plan to have a good time, meet some fellow lifters and cheer on fellow gym mates.

Can't do squat. They won't let me bring my bar.
