    Default SS hits France

    • starting strength seminar april 2024
    • starting strength seminar jume 2024
    • starting strength seminar august 2024
    • 29
    • 5"11/1.82m
    • Sportive → Exercising → CrossFit → SS.
      • Sportive → Exercising:
        • Objective was to improve general performance.
        • Genetically not very gifted, so I had to exercise in order to play more physically demanding rugby positions.

      • Exercising → CrossFit:
        • Bad injuries in rugby so stopped it.
        • Objective was to just stay "fit" now.
        • Random programs in regular gyms were "boring" and CrossFit seemed fun: "natural movements based training" and good group spirit (team sports like).
        • 1 year.

      • CrossFit → SS:
        • Very difficult to measure progress & no significant results despite dedication & did not find logical and justified principles.
        • SS seems to be measurable, logically and experimentally justified unlike ANYTHING ELSE ! .
        • Seeing numbers going up (beating most of the guys in the gym already : I am weak, but they are weaker! ) while carefully sleeping and eating is a lot of fun.
        • Theoretical and practical skills in the gym are skyrocketing: have a lot of fun helping others not doing crazy shit in the gym. May convert one or two to SS.
        • Nassim Nicholas Taleb is doing SS! Birds of a feather flock together.

    • Did not find a single SS coach in France! Something is to be done here...
    • Let's make Europe Strong Again!

    - I will probably at some point... for the time being I am ok w/ what I have (tones of videos and got to learn SS and Practical Programming).
    - Point of having a "real" coach is that usually it happens in a gym w/ people that heard the SS calling, more generally want measurable progress and minimal BS.
    - Those are rare in France and specially in gyms ;-)

    Hi Matt!

You're not alone in France... Where do you live? Do you train in a crossfit gym?

Good luck with it, you'll hit good numbers if you keep at it.

    Salut !
Suis plutôt en Isère... pour le moment !
Heureux que SS soit déjà présent en France d'une manière ou d'une autre !

    - Cannot afford more than 3 training sessions/week max w/o painful sacrifices.
    - Somewhere in PPSTv3 is written that an advanced lifter can still make gains at 1-2 sessions a week... But I cannot realistically afford to go this far.
    - Aiming at being an intermediate w/ 2-3 sessions/week is probably enough anyway.

Matthew - you'll probably be a novice/intermediate for at least 2-3 years. Don't worry about it. Run LP to the end, do advanced novice, then probably TM, on a 2-3 days a week schedule - that's plenty! Speaking of 38 - I lived in Grenoble for a year and a half (ENSIMAG, tipping the Dahu etc) - where are you based?

Yes! Corrected a little bit my previous comment : "Aiming at being an intermediate w/ 2-3 sessions/week is probably enough anyway."

    Nice!
I went to the ENSIMAG too... still in 38, but I hope not for too long.
Reassuring to see so many that (at least try) to stick to The Program ® and more importantly come back to it.
Or maybe it's because of the forum.
According to exrx.net I'm already Elite!
Or maybe It's the wrong table I've looked at... but these days you know, they all look the same.
Are you in the U.S. ?
