SSLP is phase II of my plan for this year.
While losing 85lbs on a low-carb diet, I began lifting to burn calories. I used a KetoGains5x5 program.
It worked well to learn the basic movements and definitely helped me get stronger, but I eventually stalled on just about everything.
I resorted to resets and fractional plates. But there came a point where I just couldn't get any stronger eating 1500-1800cal.

One day, I stumbled on a video from Alan Thrall. I liked it better than what I had been using so I watched more ....
Alan is a great showman and at 18%BF ... was easier to relate to than Luis from Ketogains (nice guy, but not my body type or goals)
Alan's videos eventually led me to interviews with his SSTs Dr Feigenbaum and Dr Baraki
Ultimately, I discovered the SS program and coach Rip's videos and decided to read the book while at summer camp with my Scouts.
Seeing the mechanics of how the lifts work made sense to me and I was able to make corrections to what I had previously learned.
So, on June 27th, after returning home I stopped eating at a deficit, cut my walking/hiking down to a more reasonable level and starting eating like a man who wants to grow and began The Program.

    June 27 - 6'2 38/M 240lbs
    DL - 305
    BP - 145
    SQ - 245
    PR - 100

    July 5 - 6'2 38/M 241lbs
    DL - 345
    BP - 165
    SQ - 290
    PR - 120

The app tells me that I should learn to clean and add it to my routine.
Once I get the catch position down, I'll make that change.

My biggest challenge has been diet.
After 4 months of high-protein/low carb, it has been an adjustment trying to find the right balance of macros.
I added 32-48oz of whole milk to my daily diet to help get things started, which got me in around 4000cal.
I gained about 1lbs this week, so that's a good start.

Scouting is mostly a great program. Do you have sons in it? Welcome to the best and safest program in existence for strength development. Keep up the good work and I hope you find a video program that works.

The whole family is involved in Scouting.
My oldest (14) is a Boy Scout and Venturer; he also lifts, plays soccer, band and competes in track events.
My second (12) is a Boy Scout; he plays competitive soccer and baseball. He also plays the saxophone.
My daughter (9) is a Girl Scout; she plays competitive soccer and softball.
My youngest son (5) gets to join next year when he finishes Kindergarten.
My wife and I are both leaders in multiple units and work at the district level to help others.
So yeah, a big part of our lives and life is pretty full; keeping a balance is tough but well worth the effort.

    End of week four.
243lbs, definitely seeing it in the belly. Ugh.
4lbs shouldn't have made that much difference.

Not like i had visible abs to start with though.

    DL 365 (failed 2nd rep @370)
    BP 175 (failed 5th rep of sets 2 and 3 @180)
