Maybe work from a hang until you can improve your start position
My main point is that if a beginner tries to jump, the weight isn't heavy enough to keep them down.. And they will start hoping forward backwards and so on.. I probably jump, most lifters do, but they aren't trying to, its just extending then moving feet from the pull position to the catch/squat position
