    You aren't really setting your back, at all. After you bring your knees forward and out (with the bar still on the floor), squeeze your chest up like youre trying to point it at the wall. Use the weight of the bar to help accomplish this. The squeezing up should be uncomfortable, if it's not you're doing it wrong. Hold that hard extension and pull.

    Dujin is correct. The purpose of squeezing your chest up is to have the back in slight overextension. As the weight leaves the floor, it will be pulled into correct neutral alignment. This is what makes pulls from the floor mechanically different from a low bar back squat, and why simply trying to hold your back isometrically is insufficient.

    SHOVE your chest UP.
