Default Cleans w/o bumper plates (novice level)

Would appreciate some advice on this. Starting to add power cleans to my programming after quite some time doing everything else (yeah, I know---I should have added cleans from the beginning). Right now the weight of 70 lbs (feels quite light, guessing my next try will be 85) is obviously easy to flip back down to the floor in a controlled way, but I'm concerned about what to do when it is not so easy to control, because no gym here has bumper plates. Given the hypothetical situation of me "getting stronger", will my ability to handle the drop increase too? My DL is 240, so I feel like it's going to be awhile until the clean is "out of control", but still.
I know some answers will be, "Just get your own effin' bumper plates!" but I'd really like to know the answer to this. Maybe I'll reach an "impressive amount for a girl" weight before it becomes an issue, and I can use that to start a GoFundMe for "the poor strong chick who doesn't have bumper plates."
