My goals are to raise all those lifts 5-10lbs this year
Do you feel safe at your(our) age(s) doing 1RMs? I don't, especially on squats, but maybe I'm being a wuss.

Its always planned, I never take any chances, so I go from 1 to 3 rep over about 5-3 sets with Backoff sets with 5 reps over a period of three heavy training sessions, it usually takes around +30 days . And then raise 2-5lbs and do a new 1RM. So the new 1RM gets to be a fairly light day. The 3rm days are the heaviest.
Andy Baker is my inspiration, I read his programming blog all the time.
At the moment it seems to work for me. Hope to do some new PR with this method, Im getting close now and I always use spotterarms to be safe.
I think I got very poor genetics so I belive I have to push myself with high intensity. So now I hope for some results, but you never know, du you?
If it dont work out as planned I try some other programming.

Sounds like some great, and careful programming.

I've started using the safety arms on my own gun-rack style rack. In one of Rip's Q&As at one of the seminars, he said to never squat so much that you think you'll need a safety catch, but I think he's talking to the "Bro Crowd", not the Geezer Brigade.

Probably, I have surprisingly lost a couple of easy squats just like that, and I was glad to have the spotterarms to save me. I think that my muscles and nervesystem not is as reliable as with the young squad.

I've been lifting for about two and a half years, and just made the 1000 pounds total for SQ-BP-DL.

That means I need a new goal, right? A 500kg total would be nice, that is about 1102 pounds.

But really my main goal is just to continue lifting. That is the most important goal for me.
That's my next goal, too, Slowmotion. Hope we both hit it soon!

I was very happy to have safety arms on the rack when my adductor let go while I had 365 pounds on my back (a weight I had done several times before).

    5'9.5", 185lb, 61yo (62 in 2 months)

    1RM: SQ --325, DL --365, BP --195, PR --120

    Would like 365, 405, 225, 135

I have long arms (also 10in ankles but only 6.5" wrists) and the bench and press give me a lot more grief trying to progress than do the squats and deads.

Definitely doable, though it seems daunting when I look at the weights I'll need to hit it: something like 475 dead, 375 squat, 250 bench. Maybe sometime early in the new year?
