What does a real "serious" lifter do that is superior to waiting until you know you're ready, and why does it matter?
Nothing. Ignoring Shug is one of the first things you learn around here.

I do four minutes on Press (don't bench, but I'd do the same for that) and seven minutes on Squats and deadlifts.

The reason a lot of folks get away with less rest after their LP is because you basically will never be as close to true failure on every set as you are during the latter parts of your LP.

Don't give it too much thought. It's just more of Shug's denial of his own advancing age. Too scary to contemplate for some folks.

Shug, I didnt realize how SERIOUS anybody could be until I read your log. And I learned from it! I learned that each session should be accompanied by some badass music with a driving beat. Then I went looking, and found that YOU actually can deliver that music along with weightlifting advice.

A jewish band playing surfer music, that's awesome!! LMAO!! Keep up the good work in the gym.

And remember... I'm not like most teenagers, I'm in my 50's.
