The singles from the upcoming Havok album have been my jam as of late. I think the album releases this weekend?

Watching that only served to renew my hate for Lars.

Cycling these riff-heavy albums through the playlist lately as I try to catch up on some classics I missed:

    Death - Symbolic
Overkill - The Years of Decay
Bathory - Under the Sign of the Black Mark

I'm particularly fond of the Symbolic album, and I wasn't a huge fan of Death when I was going to shows over a decade ago. (ITP or SoP were my prior exposure).

Has anyone heard Nickelback covering Sad But True? I heard that it was actually good, but I mean it's Nickelback.

Now I never said I listened to it so there's the catch.

I don't like to listen to music with lyrics when lifting, so the following are all instrumental/cover albums from youtube:

As I Lay Dying - several albums
August Burns Red - several albums
Metallica - early stuff (And Justice for All is my fav)
Times of Grace - hymn of a broken man. I set PR's to the first 15 minutes of this album.

Lately, I've been on a bit of a stoner rock kick for workout playlists. There's something about establishing a groove and riding it out for 8-10 minutes that seems to maintain a consistent mindset. This Hawkwind record "Space Ritual" from 1973, aside from being severely underrated and undervalued from a historical perspective, seems to be mentally stimulating for workouts. It doesn't overhype, just a steady state of consciousness. I usually use headphones at the gym, but there is a plug in station and I'll sometimes blast this when there are few people in the gym. Every single time, without fail, someone will ask me what this is. I edited the record down to a playlist because it has some very atmospheric songs on it. Born to Go on Spotify

I saw them live back in October, their precision and heaviness are unmatched.
