Yeah, so Ive started rowing in past week and half, throwing in prowlers inbetween. Not gonna lie, my conditioning was shit. I've worked up to 2 30 minute sessions in a row on my off days. My average 500m has been steadily going down. Today I got a 500m/2:36 minutes (day prior was close to 3 minutes, only have had 3 sessions) average today, rowed about 5780 meters in 30 minutes.

Should I keep increasing total time or try to decrease my average and thus increase total distance while keeping total time constant?

The prowler pushes are pretty brutal, load it up with 180 lbs and push it like 50 yards (im low balling), 3 minute rest between pushes.

I dont have a shit ton of time so my "training" is like Squat/Press OR DL/Bench and Chins/(Rower OR Prowler) on days in between.

    I like doing this:

    Monday:
2x5K keep getting faster over time

    Wed:
30 mins with heart rate between 130-140 (adjust your hr as needed. Should feel too easy. )

    Fri:
    500m sprints...maybe 4. Maybe PR a 500 once every 2-4 weeks.

^ it's like a weird conditioning version of daily undulating periodization (fuck, how I hate typing out that pretentious phrase).

    I ninja-edited to add this:

This format kept me motivated. And I really, really, really hate conditioning. Really hate it.

Hope im not hijacking here but does anyone get lowerback pain from the c2?

If so how to prevent it?

I get it everytime I use one and that's why I shy away from it. Maybe just not used to it.

Have you watched the form videos on the c2 website? There is a right way to do it.

    2 x 5000m on Monday?.
No wonder you really hate conditioning.
You're right about sprint intervals on the C2 (you answered a question for me a while back). I've subsequently tried them on a bike and it's a whole different ballgame! Now I hate conditioning too.

Also check out the Darkhorse Rowing series on YouTube. Much more detail than the Concept videos.
