That 1000 pound squat was amazing considering that he wasn't a very big man. He was around average height, weighed 250 pounds and wasn't a 400 pound freak like Ray Williams or some of the other super heavy weights that put up the big numbers.

He was 5'6" @255 and 45 years old when he squatted 1014.... there are 2 versions of his squat program 6 weeks peaking and an 80 day squat program... can anyone verify those are the 2 squat programs he promoted? If u google, these two pop up, but I wonder if he has an actual program... I'm curious how he worked up to 1000 pounds...

Shug, since you have proven to be an avid collector of strength training reading, any books by Hatfield that are particularly worth trying to search for?

And I never realized his weight was so low when he squatted that. Jesus. Although he arguably looked more qualified to squat 1000 than the man who did before him...

I have (had) his old training booklets, I cant remember if I sold them or not. His book "Power A Scientific Approach" is very good.
    * I just looked it up, Strega purchased the Hatfield booklets. That is a waste, because he will never put the information to use.

I have managed to find his "Powerlifting: A Scientific Method" book. A fascinating read, minus the comical take on steroids...

He has written a squat manual before, has he not? What did you think of that?

Several sites give his max deadlift at 766lb. Just curious why it would be so much less than his squat.
