Josh Wells, SSC Josh has been a Starting Strength Coach since January 2010 and has trained under the watchful eyes of Mark Rippetoe since 2000. As an international level lifter, he was a member of the Jr. Pan-American Team and a member of the Junior World Team competing all over the world. He traveled throughout the US as seminar staff beginning in 2007 prior to the blue book and staffed various SS seminars years after. Josh received his Bachelor’s in Sociology and Master’s of Science in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Exercise Physiology from Midwestern State University. He has worked with many athletes from a variety of sports in conjunction with strength and conditioning programs at Texas Christian University and MSU. He was a primary coach, along with Mark Rippetoe, of the Midwestern State University and Bone Unit Olympic weightlifting teams operating under the Texas Weightlifting Regional Development Center. He has coached SS all over the US for the last 10 years and has hosted numerous SS and Olympic Weightlifting camps. Josh is thrilled to relocate back to his home state of Texas with his wife (fellow SSC) Shelley and their two dogs Mabel and Loki to help bring the first Starting Strength Franchise to Houston.
