Brodie M. Butland, JD, BSc, SSC Brodie M. Butland, J.D., B.Sc., Starting Strength Coach is an Assistant United States Attorney with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of California. Prior to that, Brodie was a partner at a large regional law firm, where he counseled clients in various business matters including commercial litigation, business contracts, products liability, regulatory compliance, and employment issues, including a significant volume of work for gyms and personal trainers around the country. He earned the Starting Strength Coach credential in August 2012, which came as a surprise given that he is a pretty dismal athlete and generally engages in activities that require long bouts of sitting, such as chess, board games, reading, and drinking beer.
