PSYOPS: If They Can Make You Believe a Big Strong Man Belongs in the Women’s Division

MFCPete

You have to feel for the woman who missed out on her chance at competing in the Olympics because of this.

In years to come when some sanity has been restored in the world this will be seen for the terrible injustice it really is.

J.D. Shipley

So hard to fathom how this is considered ok. It just doesn't make sense.

Mark Rippetoe

This moment in the history of the world makes no sense. Nonetheless, here we are.

CommanderFun

It's got to add even more insult to injury seeing Hubbard taking the opportunity and bombing out.

Mark Rippetoe

Stupid fucker opened too heavy.

rever

I don't know enough about snatching to judge but do you think he failed on purpose, to show that men are no threat? Do those failures look organic? How often does someone fail all three first attempts?

bendy-legs

I was thinking about that the other day, winning was never an option. Not until female sports have been thoroughly invaded by men.

Mark Rippetoe

If you don't know how to pull the bar off the floor, it happens all the time. He doesn't know how to pull.

CommanderFun

I doubt anyone would be crazy enough to get to the Olympics and sabotage their own performance just to open up opportunities for others to slip in and win.

Mark Rippetoe

He's crazy, obviously, but not that way. He opened too heavy. His coach fucked up.

Apprenticeship

francesco.decaro

Do you hire apprentices from outside of the US? If not, could it be a possibility in the near future? I'm an Italian student, 24 years old, currently doing the program and I don't think there would be a better place on Earth to do an apprenticeship. Thank you for your time and for what you do.

Mark Rippetoe

Are you asking about SS Gyms in general, or WFAC?

francesco.decaro

I didn't know there was a difference, sorry. I'm talking about the SS gyms because I read on the website that many are looking for level 0 coaches too. Anywhere one can learn to do and coach the method by other SS coaches, really.

Ray Gillenwater

Francesco- Apprenticeship at the gyms is open to anyone that’s legally allowed to work in the US and that qualifies for the role.

The gym owners are looking for passion and potential when selecting apprentices and nothing says commitment more than moving across the world for an entry-level position.

If this is your dream, you’re ready to pursue it, and you’re willing to put in the work to figure out the visa situation. Send me an email with details about yourself and your goals. I’ll forward it to the gym owners. I’m at: info [at] StartingStrengthGyms.com
