I've recently decided to become more serious about my training, and I'd like some input on my training.

    Some information:
    Age: 21
    height: 6'1
weight: 230- I gained about 30 pounds over the last two months and still going strong
    Program: Texas Method
    Monday: Squats 5x5
    Bench press 5x5
Power clean 5x3 (meaning 5 sets of 3)

    Wednesday: Front squat 3x5
    Press 3x5
    Back extension 5x10
Chin ups 3 sets to failure

Friday Squat 1 rm one week, 2rm next week, 3rm 3rd week, 1 rm
    Bench Press same as squat
    Deadlift 1x5

    Starting PR's
    Squat 400x1
    Bench press 250x3
    Deadlift 405x1x5 (unbelted)

    Current PR's as of 9/11/10
    Squat 450x1
    Bench press 290x1
    Deadlift 425x1x5

    My goals
Enter first powerlifting meet over the next year
Increase squat 100 pounds over the next year
Bench press 300x1 by the end of the year
Deadlift 500x1 by the end of the year

    Friday's Workout
    Squat
    415x1 (PR)
    425x1 (PR)
    Bench
    265x1 (PR)
    275x1 fail
    Deadlift 410x1x5 (PR)

All lifts felt good today. My nose started bleeding a little during squats. I've never had that happen before.

    Monday's Workout
    Squats 325x5x5
    Bench Press
230x5x5 missed 1 rep on each of last two sets
    Power Clean
    215x5x3 3,3,1,2,2

I'll try power cleans at the same weight next week and see how they go. If I don't make them, I may move powercleans to Wednesday.

Thats hardcore, I havnt had any facial bleeding yet. Its nice to see people clear out of my way on the way to the water fountain after my shins start dripping though.

I don't think the bloody nose can be fully attributed to the lifting. I had a bloody nose earlier in the week from some nose picking.

    Wednesday Workout
    BW: 236
    Front Squat
    250x3x5
    Press
    160x3x5, 4,4,3
    Back Extension
    40x5x10
    Chin ups
    6,5,5

Chin ups didn't feel very good today, but they never feel that great. I've been having trouble progressing with them, but my weight gain my have something to do with that.

    Friday's Workout
    Squat
    425x2 (felt easy)
    Bench Press
265x2, 1 (I couldn't get the second rep out of the bottom.)
    Deadlift
    415x1x5

Overall, I'm happy with the workout. I knew that I couldn't expect bench to keep moving as quickly as it has been over the past month.

    Monday's Workout
    Squat
    330x5x5 (easy)
    Bench Press
235x5x5 5,5,4,3,4 (I think I could have done more on the 3rd set, but I didn't want to push the last rep because I had no spotter. I think 4th set was a lack of rest between sets. Lockout was feeling a little weak. I will attempt this weight next week, and if I don't make it, I'll start adding dips.)
    Power Clean
    215x5x3 (felt good)
