Hello Mr. Rippetoe.

I would be very grateful if you can comment on my training partner's DL and my own. We are pulling from a slight deficit as the barbell's center is 7.0" above the ground. I hope this isn't a bad idea. We have followed instructions from your book and videos, but I fear for our lower backs.

First him.

I should note that I quit on the 5th rep because I "felt" the lower back rounding. But please correct me if it rounds from the first rep. I just felt it giving in more in the last so I lowered the weight for that, and another reason: the day prior to this a massage lady told me she felt my low back inflammed, it hurt-so-good when she pressed in two symmetrical spots down there. She commented that my low back muscles were small too, unfortunately. I went into this session scared so like a p*ssy I decided not to grind out the 5th rep as it was my last session for a while, taking a week's rest right now (both me and my training partner), and we'll resume with lower weight next week.

Thank you very much for your time!
