A friend of mine who works for the CDC has often challenged me on my assertions about the benefits of milk. He recently forwarded this article to me, though. Maybe it's been shared in one of these forums before, and I thought I'd toss it out there in case anyone wants to check it out:

Notice the fact that the poor things are still recommending low-fat milk.

I drink one liter of sheep milk after every workout. more than 50 grams of protein in it. and lots of healthy saturated fat. can't recommend it more.

"Based on the limited research, milk appears to be an effective post-resistance exercise beverage that results in favourable acute alterations in protein metabolism. Milk consumption acutely increases muscle protein synthesis, leading to an improved net muscle protein balance."

What new and helpful information carbs increase protein synthesis, oh where has this information been all my life!

This link seems to think that that whole milk is better than skim milk and that skim milk makes you fat...

So are you saying 2% is udderly worthless? I thought 2% was a huge jump from my 30+ years with the non-fat obsession. Even with a 49 yr old Geezling you'd still recommend whole milk?

I don't know that I'd recommend milk at all for a 49 year old guy that is not trying to gain weight. But since you won't be drinking much anyway, why drink the watery kind?

Yeah... I thought twice about it, but just couldn't keep my finger from hitting enter. You have my apology.
