Deadlift singles vs sets of 5
Hey Rip,
I've been having difficulties making the 5 reps on deadlift after squatting heavy, and I don't want to switch to advanced novice so soon. So I messed around and found that pulling 5 singles with minimal rest times (~30s) allows me to keep adding weight to the deadlift every DL session. Read your comparison of the physiological requirements of a 1RM effort to a 20RM in BBT3 and it got me thinking... Since strength, not CV conditioning, is my main short-term goal, would you object to deadlifting with 5 quick singles instead of a set of 5?
And since you're here now anyway, would you kindly critique my deadlift form?
Thanks!
