Protein Spacing

In quite a few post you mention spreading protein intake out over the course of several meal (3-4). What makes the dispersion over 3-4 meals more optimal than say... hitting your protien requirements in two meals?

Because you'll get to spike protein synthesis more times will still allowing for the refractory period to take place. So spiking protein synthesis 4x vs 2x is better, right? But then if you were to eat 6 protein-rich meals spaced out every 2.5 hours (old school BB style) you'd likely actually suppress protein synthesis because the refractory period never finishes.
