    Hi,
I started strength training ~ 9 weeks ago and so far have been consistently adding weight. I started with the strong lifts 5x5 program gradually moving towards SS now (Mostly because i'm having issues with the barbell rows).

    Please check my Deadlift form:

You need to arch your back before you pull the weight off the ground. You should follow this procedure:

Hi Tom, I am trying to hone my observation/coaching skills so please let me know if I'm on track here. Would it be fair to also say that: (1) he needs to set up the bar over his feet before bending down; (2) his feet should be pointed out instead of parallel; (3) he is dropping his rear before the pull rather than lifting the chest; and, (4) the people walking around are way too close and distracting during the lift so they should probably be shot.

I would agree with all of those points, although the death sentence is a rather stiff penalty for being inconsiderate while someone is deadlifting. Hopefully, if he follows the steps for the deadlift setup, they will be addressed.

He's also not wearing shoes, but we're going with baby steps at the moment.
