Anyone here ever use assisted-pullup machine to build enough strength to do a pullup?

If you have, please fucking tell me. I don't want to spend a 100 bucks on assistance bands if the assisted-pullup machine can work.

Don't need bands. Bicycle innertubes from walmart are like 3$ just cut the stems off.

Why don't you just use the lat pulldown machine.

Because fuck the lat pulldown machine. There's no solid progression strategy with them, they're for massive bodybuilders with already strong lats.

Also @ Aroden, how much resistance would they give me? I wouldn't know how to progress them but assistance bands or the assisted pullup machine are much clearer.

Inverted rows can help build up strength for a pullup.

How strong should I be @ inverted rows before it means I'll have enough strength to be able to do a pullup?

I'm unconvinced that you have the sound logic to back up that statement.

I've read too many stories where men can do lat pulldowns with BW and they still can't do a pullup.

You sure know a lot about this for someone that can't do a pullup. Of course a lat pulldown is easier than a pullup, if your 1rm lat pulldown is your BW, you can't do a pullup. Get your lat pulldown higher than your bodyweight. I thought that would be obvious.

And there is an obvious 'progression strategy' with lat pulldowns. They are designed so that you can increment the weight in the same size small jumps.
