Because the other side of the coin is just sitting on one's arse (and squat 2 times a week). Next to that cycling is indeed low stress, easy on the joints etc. And what i recall from my sports psychology classes, aerobic exercise is pretty good in in lowering stress levels, increasing endorphins lowering symptoms of depression etc. Quality and longevity are not just based on a muscles ability to contract and produce force no?
