IN OTHER NEWS... One of our long standing members, Clay, graced us with a YouTube video on how Starting Strength has improved his back pain and golf game. Watch below:

The gym will be closed this weekend as all of our staff will be attending staff development at the first Starting Strength Gyms Coaches Conference hosted by WFAC this weekend. Those that are regularly scheduled to train have already received instructions on how to access the gym in our stead.

Huge congrats to our team for attending the strength lifting meet at Rip's gym yesterday. We were watching from home base and cheering you guys on. This was the first meet I was unable to attend in quite some time (at least a couple years) but was happy Jordan was there to handle the lifters and carry the torch. Great job everyone!

    SS Plano Apprentice: Maxine

It’s finally happening!!! Our first ever FIELD DAY! Huge thanks to Karen and Bill Deloney for hosting. Nov 13th is when we will be having everyone in the DFW gyms out at the ranch.I am super pumped for this event. We had the staff out at their acreage a couple weekends ago to test out the events and while some of these feats of strength are tough they are all pretty dang safe!

Both the Dallas and the Plano gym will be closed on November 13th for our first annual Field Day. We will pick you up from either the Dallas or Plano gym in an old-school school bus so that we can all ride to the field together in style.

Combine the nostalgia of that one day of the year in elementary school where you got to be outside ALL DAY doing fun stuff like tug-of-war, three-legged races, and the egg toss WITH elements of strength (tractor pull, heavy sandbag relay race, shot put) and you are looking at one heckuva good time!

The invitation is extended to both Dallas and Plano members as well as their family and friends.

    Starting Strength Plano Members:

Hi Folks! With all of the buzz surrounding our most recent competition where we brought a whole third of the lifters for the entire competition in Wichita Falls we want to capitalize on this momentum and give every member the chance to work up to some heavy singles just like you would for a competition without having to actually go to one. The whole reason behind competing is to have a calendar date in mind where you know you have to perform. So with that thought we would like for anyone that has competed before or has considered competing to join us in our first annual Starting Strength Plano Peak Week!

    Details:
To give your training focus and enjoy in the celebration of setting new PR’s you will work with your coach to pick a date between December 13th - 19th to perform a mock meet during your regularly scheduled class times.
The mock meet will consist of three heavy singles on the squat, press, and deadlift progressing in weight on each single. Your coach will help you pick an effective strategy for selecting your attempts.
Log your successful attempts in your logbook along with your current weight. Your coach will give you a white light (successful attempt) or red light (no lift) based on the general rules of competition (squats below parallel, press locks out with straight elbows, etc). Straps for the deadlift will be permitted.
Entry fee of $20 gets you a sweet Starting Strength Dallas Peak Week T-shirt and the chance of bragging rights for the rest of the year!
Winners will receive a free Starting Strength Dallas pint glass based on a coefficient (wilks) that allows us to compare lifters across all weight classes.

Eric’s deadlift goal was to hit a bodyweight deadlift. Less than two weeks later he has added over 50lbs to his deadlift with no sign of stopping! Nice work Eric!
