Ah, I didn't know the term "fatman pullups". Makes more sense after googling.

    Monday Oct 25th 2010 - Squat Day

    Squat

    20kg (44 lbs) x 10
    50kg (110 lbs) x 10
    70kg (154 lbs) x 5
    100kg (220 lbs) x 3
    120kg (265 lbs) x 3
    140kg (309 lbs) x 1
    160kg (353 lbs) x 1
    180kg (397 lbs) x 1 (PR by 5kg! (11 lbs))
    185kg (408 lbs) x F
    150kg (331 lbs) x 5

180 was so fast and easy, much easier than 175 was more than 2 years ago, that I had to add more. Probably not a good idea because it was too heavy, but I think I've got this weight if I can find the right touch and maybe not such a heavy warmup. Soon!

    Weighted Chinup

    BW x 3
    15kg (33 lbs) x 3
    30kg (66 lbs) x 3,3,3

    Military Press

    45kg (100 lbs) x 15

    Congrats on the squat PR.

Next PR on the platform, or are you going to go for it again in the gym?

Thanks. I have a month, so I'll probably try again. Might as well get 400 lbs, right? I'm competing in a suit, so those PRs don't really count.

Wednesday Oct 27th 2010 - Bench Press Day

    50kg (110 lbs) x 8
    70kg (154 lbs) x 5
    100kg (220 lbs) x 3
    110kg (242 lbs) x 1
    122.5kg (270 lbs) x 3,3,3 (PR for 3 reps)
    115kg (254 lbs) x 5,4

The 9th rep with 122.5 was very slow so I dropped the weight for the next two sets. I'm trying 125x3 next week.

    Speed Squat

    50kg (110 lbs) x 8
    70kg (154 lbs) x 5
    100kg (220 lbs) x 3
    130kg (287 lbs) x 2,2,2,2,2

    DB Hammer Curl

    28kg (61 lbs) x 5
    32kg (70 lbs) x 8
    34kg (75 lbs) x 5
    36kg (79 lbs) x 5 (PR, I think)

    Friday Oct 29th 2010 - Deadlift Day

    Power Snatch

    40kg (88 lbs) x 3,3,3
    50kg (110 lbs) x 3

    Power Clean

    70kg (154 lbs) x 3,3

    Deadlift

    120kg (265 lbs) x 3
    150kg (331 lbs) x 3
    180kg (397 lbs) x 1
    180kg (397 lbs) x 1 (suit on)
    200kg (441 lbs) x 1,1 (suit on)
    200kg (441 lbs) x 2,2,2,2,2 (suit off)

I tested my coach Ingimundur's suit, a Titan NXG like mine, but size 42 (mine is 44). It gives him a lot in the dead, but me nothing. Minus nothing because 200 was really hard, so I took it off.

    Speed Bench

    70kg (154 lbs) x 5
    100kg (220 lbs) x 3
    110kg (242 lbs) x 2,2,2,2

I haven't mentioned this, but I really hate benching with the Olympic bars in the club gym I used today. For some reason, everything feels 10 kilos heavier than it is. I think it's the grip. They're thinner than PL bars and somehow never feel really secure in my hands, as if they're a bit twitchy.

So I hit 270 for a triple plus a 4th with assistance, and you had to show off by hitting it for 3 triples! Way to keep me motivated my friend! Plus thanks for the bench advice.

All in all, nice work plus congrats on the squat PR on Monday. Question on your DL suit: your coaches' NXG is the same as yours but smaller. How do you get nothing out of a tighter suit? Also, how much do you get out of your size 44? Keep in mind that I'm not convinced I'm getting anything out of mine either. It just seems counter-intuitive that a tighter suit would be less productive, unless you can't breathe or can't get to the bar.

Hahaha. I wasn't actually thinking about you when I benched, but certainly following the logs of someone who is just that little bit stronger and just a little bit lighter is very motivating. You also train very similarly to me, so I think I can learn a lot from you.

OK, I didn't explain the situation with the suits well enough.

I have never gotten anything out of my 44 suit in the deadlift, that's why my coach wanted me to try his 42. In the event, it's probably not actually tighter than the 44, despite the smaller number. It actually feels looser. I suspect it may be because my coach used it a lot weighing close to 110kg and stretched it out. I had a lot of trouble getting down to the bar in my 44 and also putting the bar down after the lift. Both were easier in the 42. Also, I have a lot more bruising in mine afterwards ;-)

I will probably do more testing though. It just may require a little technique, tightening against the suit to get the proper rebound effect.

    Monday Nov 1st 2010 - Squat Day

    Squat

    45kg (100 lbs) x 10
    70kg (154 lbs) x 5
    100kg (220 lbs) x 3
    120kg (265 lbs) x 3
    140kg (309 lbs) x 1
    160kg (353 lbs) x 1
    170kg (375 lbs) x 1
    182.5kg (402 lbs) x 1 (PR! 400 lbs baby!)
    160kg (353 lbs) x 5

My right pec/shoulder is still giving me a lot of grief despite hot tubs, ibuprofen and massage, so I did nothing more today. We'll see whether I can bench Wednesday. Probably not. I did a few rotator cuff exercises with light dumbbells and wrapped a few powerlifting ladies' knees.

I'm going to Amsterdam for a long weekend (Thursday-Sunday), so the likely scenario is that I deadlift Wednesday and skip bench this week to heal up.

Nice one on the big 400. 185 next week, or are you tapering?

What's your deadlift max looking like? I saw you are on the board for the 5/4/3/2 thread...
