Appetite is still not back, but I'm feeling much better. I stayed home in the morning but went back to work in the afternoon. I've definitely lost some weight but am probably still around 192, although I tightened the belt an extra notch.

I was feeling very good going into the workout. I decided I would try to pick up what I was supposed to do for the 3rd week of transmutation, and it went very well.

    Squat
    135x5
    225x5
    315x3 feeling strong
    405x1
445x1 RPE 9.5, no wraps PR
420x2 RPE 10, no wraps PR, 1st rep a little high
    405x2 RPE 9.5
405x2 RPE 10, got forward on 2nd rep
405x2 RPE 9, better low bar position

I haven't pushed the weight without wraps in a couple years, but I wanted to finish up the whole transmutation block with just the Rehbands. I'll add wraps next week. Originally I was supposed to do 420 for 4 doubles, but after the first set, I dropped to 405. The percentages are based on my wrapped squat, so I'm still quite pleased.

I was carrying the bar a little high until the last set, which felt the most solid. You can see that I got bent over a little bit on 445 too. I am wearing the Rehbands under the sweats:

    Speed Bench vs Bands
    45x10
    135x4x2
    155x3
    175x3x8 EMOM
Doubled minis, adds about 70 pounds at the top.

At the end of the workout, I was starting to feel pressure in my head and my lungs were hurting some with a bit of a cough. That's to be expected breathing in the cold air from the garage even with a heater. My appetite wasn't that good after, but I went and got a chocolate ice cream shake later : )

Well, it sure felt like it. There was definitely not another one in the tank, but thanks!

My back is feeling better than ever. I guess the time off is just what the doctor ordered. I ran out of propane on the garage heater just as I was setting up for my first set, ugh..

    Sumo Deadlift
    135x5
    225x4
    315x3
    405x2
    495x1 PR
    525x0
Since I did 485 for a triple 2 weeks ago, I figured I could pull 525, but I couldn't break it from the floor. Now I know what a sumo miss feels like. Hips just said, "Nope." No biggie, just trying to find my 1RM on this lift. 495 went up well enough, but I had to pull really hard off the floor, and it put a little stress on my right knee.

    Competition Bench Press
    135x5
    185x3
    225x2
    275x1
    305x1
    285x2x4 last set RPE 8.5
Experiencing a good deal of pain in my left bicep, and my back was cramping too.

    Slingshot Bench Press
    295x3
    305x4 RPE 8
    310x4 RPE 8.5
    315x4 RPE 9
    305x5 RPE 9.5
Back cramps were getting worse even after putting on a belt and bicep pain still distracting. It was getting REALLY cold in the garage and I was taking way too long.

    Hammer Curls
    30's - 2x20, 2x10
These provided a lot of relief to my bicep, like magic. I need to do these more often.

Suddenly it was 9pm and I was shot with hardly any appetite.

Matt Reynolds has been doing my programming for 2 years now. My first day with his program was 01/14/13. We actually started with a deload week, as I was already pretty beat up. As a matter of fact, my 4-year training anniversary is in February, so I suppose Matt has coached me 1/2 of the time I have been training.

Matt has become the closest thing I have to a training partner in that I would often text with him during training and receive real-time feedback. In addition to not having to think about programming, I suppose that's what I'm going to miss most of all. Matt has been a great support and encouragement during the best and worst of times, and a good friend. Sometimes he was an asshole, which was necessary to piss me off at times when I needed to sack up and quit being a pussy.

Tonight and tomorrow I'm going to finish up the last 2 days of this transmutation block with Matt's programming. I'll be peaking myself for the Feb 15 meet, although I have not yet signed up. It's a little shaky being around Valentine's day, and if I do it, I'll drive up and weigh in the morning of. Much thanks to the invaluable knowledge I have received under Matt's coaching as well as support from my friends in this community.

It's kind of a tough decision, which is mostly financial, but I know there are very few places where one can receive the caliber of coaching and constant attention that I have received from Matt at such an affordable price.

Anyway, I just wanted to make a post here to say thank you. Not just to Matt but to the tremendous support of this community, which I believe to be second to none. A special thanks to those facebook friends like Lester, Carlos, Maclain, Patrick, Melody, and more. Not only for the support, but for the condescending sarcasm as well, haha..

I'm realizing this log has a few views, so thanks to everyone!
