2/4 Testing out the shoulder today

Bench (paused, commands) up to 315x1 (Easy but painful. First time I've benched in about 3-4 weeks I think)
    Incline bench 275x3, 245x6,6
    DB row 130 4x15
Close grip axle floor press 225x5, 275x5, 295x5
    Pulldowns 3x10

--The takeaway from today: I'll need another bench workout or two before I can assess my readiness for the competition at the end of this month. My plan is to hit a single twice per week, increasing by 15 lbs each workout, and then to build up volume with bench assistance exercises that don't hurt (as badly as bench). If 330 moves well on Saturday, I'll feel a lot better. I'm starting to think this is something that will require surgery eventually, but I'm not willing to get it checked out quite yet.

    2/6

    Squat 465x5 PR
    2 sec pause squat 355x5,5,5
    Pullups bwx5, bw+45x5,5, bwx5
    GHR bwx10,10,15

--Ok day. The 465x5 was a 10 lb PR for a set of 5, but it didn't move as well as I would like.

    2/7

Bench w/ commands 315x1, 325x1 (8/10 pain, shoulder sore, so quit here. Will decide late next week whether I can do the meet. Will need to hit an easy 345 by then)

    Thanks, Adam.

By the way, I requested to attend the Wichita Falls seminar in June. Now I just have to get a little coaching on the power clean before I go. Nobody wants to see my bastardized barbell row/upright row/reverse curl/catch at the chin complex. Honestly, I never had to learn power cleans for a sport, and I've never done them as a part of my programming. I have no idea what I'm doing and don't want to look like a fool.

Just understand the model and the teaching method and you'll be good to go, man. You're going to enjoy yourself, but it's an intensive and intense experience.

I think I have a handle on the model and on what a power clean should look like. Just can't do it myself. I'll be interested to see if I have any flexibility or anthropometry issues that preclude my performing the movement.

Well you're not exactly the demographic I usually say "post a form check" to, but I'm sure the staff coaches would be glad to take a look if you feel like getting an attempt on camera.

My technique will need to be fixed in person. It's so out of whack that a form check won't do anything but waste the coaches' time.
