Leah, I live in fear. Nothing new.

    1/29

Squat up to 495x1, couldn't clear rack with 575 because of height, then did a pick and hold with 635, then squatted 315x5 (beltless)

--So...WTF? 575 is the heaviest I've ever gone at the YMCA. I've always had trouble clearing the pins at 405+ but usually make it by 1/2". 575 compressed me too much. No point in lowering a notch because I'd have about a 7" pick. So I just said fuck it. Will be finding a new gym after the meet, at least for squats. I've outgrown this one. Had the meet been tomorrow as planned, I think I would have done well given my DL and bench performance this week. Next Saturday? Who knows? Maybe I'll be even stronger from a down week. I might go squat tomorrow at the gym I'll probably be joining, just because I don't feel like I've done enough work. And I might not. Pretty much a wasted day.

    1/30

Squat up to 575x2 (PR, RPE 9.5)

--That was it. Good confidence booster. Third rep might have gone, but more weight for a double certainly would have. Did this at little kyle's gym so I could use real equipment. He squatted 560x2, so I think he's got a legit shot at 6 next week as well.

    2/2

    Squat - 225 3x3, 315x1 (Violent!)
    Bench - 135 3x5, 225 3x1
    Pullups - bw 5x5

--Time to rest til meet. Legs, back, hands all feel good. Pec, elbow, shoulder...not so much.

2/5 - Weighed in at 195.6. Overcut as usual because I'm always paranoid that the meet scale will weigh heavy. I'm already back up to 205.5 1.5 hrs after weigh-ins. Should hit 210-212 tonight. The hard, shitty part is over. Time for the fun, rewarding part. Openers are set at 550/375/650. Minimum goals are a 600 squat, 700 pull, and 1700 total.

Guilty as charged. But my last meet I weighed 213 and competed against guys who told me they cut from the 240's/250's to the 220 class. And I said to myself: "Fuck this shit. Never again am I competing against guys who outweigh me by 30-40 lbs on the platform."

I was reading about that yesterday: Are 16-24 Hour Weigh-ins Good for Powerlifting? Some interesting perspectives on both sides.
