Deadlift 135x8, 225x5, 315x5, 405x5, 495x1, 535x2 tweaked ham on 3rd. Frustrating but very mild strain. Actually dropped the weight right before the pop would’ve happened. Good news was this was moving like a weight I could do 8-10 reps with and I’ll likely just need one light week before I’m back to this weight. So the tentative plan is to hit 535x5 in 2 weeks and then resume my 10 lbs/week LP.

Press 245x1 (had 5 lbs in tank, best I’ve done since I started back training), 205x6
Deadlift 135 3x10, just to get some blood to the hamstring. It would’ve held up fine to 315ish, maybe more.

—not a bad week other than the minor hamstring pull, which won’t set me back more than a week or two. The pec strain from last month is a different story. I definitely popped it good at the insertion. Even very light weights are not wise. I’m fortunate not to have avulsed the tendon. The pain extends to the armpit, even the lat, and the proximal biceps. Definitely going to suspend benching for a while and focus on the press.

—Deload week on all but presses. I think the hamstring will be ready to pull next week. I throw in pushups many days but won’t log it. Even 50 pushups the morning of an afternoon press workout shouldn’t affect your press unless you’re out of shape.

—Turns out I have the flu. Only got out of bed to use the bathroom over the weekend and still feel like ass.
There’s a strength lifting meet up here in MA on June 1. I might compete. Would just take a token squat at 60kg then see what I can do on press and deadlift. I’d really like an extra 2 months since I recently resumed training. But it might be now or never. I hope to be out of this liberal hellhole by November and may not have another chance to compete for a while. After we move (hopefully to Dallas), the wife says I have to try to make a baby. If that happens, I won’t be competing for a while. So I probably need to sign on up.
