    1/14

    2 ct pause squat - 500x2,2,2 (RPE 8 across), 315x5
    Bench (rehab) - 45x10, 135x10, 225x15

--Squats felt great. 100% certain I could pause squat my opener of 550, which is a hell of a confidence booster. Did the pause squats today so that I would have a little break from super heavy weight on my back while still working at a high relative intensity.

Got ART done for the first time today. Worked mostly on my pec and then some on my hips/hamstrings. Can't tell any difference in the pec yet. It ended up bruising about 3 days after the tear, which is weird, and it's still pretty bruised. Legs felt good today in the gym, though. I've heard ART is supposed to hurt. Granted, I have an extremely high pain tolerance, but nothing about it was painful. So I'm not sure she did what she needed. When Wolf met me I think his reaction was something like: "You don't even look like you lift (except for your forearms). How are you as strong as you are?" But I'm very dense and massage therapists never are able to do much good. I felt like this was maybe the same deal.

    Thanks, Kong.

    Bench - 45x10, 135x10, 225x10, 275x10, (paused) 315x6
    Pulldown 3x12

--Got some light bench work in and a tremendous pump. Will see what I've got re: the pec on Tuesday.

    1/19

Bench (paused) - 365x3,4 (2 reps in tank final set), close grip 315x7 (1 in tank)
    Pullups 3x10, Pulldowns 2x12

--Pec felt good. Maybe the ART worked. I wanted more weight, but my training partner cautioned me against pushing it today. I have one more heavy workout next week, and hopefully I can handle 405 for 2-3 reps.

I have a couple of pretty smart ones right now. Plus I'm old and more likely to listen than when I was 22.

Squat - 585x1,1 (RPE 9.5 each, 20 lbs in tank each but couldn't have doubled like I wanted)
    Pause squat - 365x5,5; 415x3; 445x3

--Fuck, fuck, fuck. Wanted 585x2 and made the mistake of trying a new gym because little kyle that fucking dingaling talked me into it. Supposedly he squats better at this place although he looked like shit today, too. New setup, new weights, etc, so can't compare to my other performances or really get a good handle on where I'm at. Positives: got some work in at a place where I wasn't squatting into a mirror; got some volume in, which is good because this "peak" has been way too long; pretty sure I can squat 600 on a shitty day with odd new equipment. Must eat more. I'm like 13 lbs lighter than before my last meet. And my abzzz are doing me zero good. I need some cougar-be-gone.

My training partner, Dale, just hit a big milestone. First 650+ deadlift (655).

    starting strength coach development program
1/25/16 (make-up workout from being snowed under all weekend)

    Press - 255 2x2 (PR doubles), 225x6,6

--That's all. Didn't have much time and have to pull tomorrow anyway. Made one of my usual wise decisions to increase my life stress two weeks out from a meet. Ran out of food on Saturday and the only thing within walking distance of my house is Hooter's. Not the worst problem in the world. Naturally one of the waitresses dropped her number off for me as my buddies and I were paying our tab. Maybe a more disciplined lifter says: "You know, I'm two weeks out from a meet. I'll just thank her but tell her I'm not available for a couple of weeks. If she's still interested, then we'll talk." The looks of jealousy on my buddies' faces were too much, though. I knew I had to get shit started ASAP. Not to mention that something like this is a clear sign from the gods. Who knows? Maybe this thing will go four--even five--weeks.
