    Tuesday 8/5/12

    Squat:
    3x5x44
    1x5x88
    1x5x110
    1x3x132
    1x1x154
3x5x165 - still hard, but easier than last time. The warm ups felt nice and solid in respect to knees not coming forward at the bottom. Work sets were better than usual, but still need attention, the damn weight just wants to squish me down.

    OHP:
    1x8x44
    1x5x55
    1x5x66
    1x3x77
    1x1x88
    1x4x93.5
    1x3x93.5
    1x2x93.5
1x1x93.5 - whilst slightly better than last time, this was no where near what I wanted. Plus I tweaked something in my right shoulder last week doing all those singles and it hasn't worked itself out yet. On the really hard reps my left was pushing much stronger than my right which is somewhat unusual.

Got home and took 2 duck eggs, fried them in hemp oil, placed them on top of a toasted gluten free roll and added a dollop of mayonnaise. I really needed that!

    Wednesday 9/5/12

    Deadlift:
    2x5x132
    1x3x165
    1x1x187
1x5x203.5 - surprisingly easy, relatively speaking of course.

    Bench:
    1x15x44
    1x5x66
    1x5x88
    1x3x99
    1x1x115.5
3x3x121 - had no spotter and just generally felt beat up, decided to go easy on myself and do 3 reps a set. Definitely had a 4th rep in me, not sure about a 5th. Shoulder still playing up a bit.

Too bad about the shoulder. But nice triples and smart decision to go easy(er) under the circumstances. Plus the deadlifts flying up, relatively speaking. ;-)

    Saturday 12/5/12

    Deadlift:
    2x5x132
    1x3x165
    1x1x198
1x5x220 - PR! I got the two plates! Back was rounding pretty badly in the last two reps, normally I would have stopped at that point but I really wanted the 5 reps. Will repeat this weight and focus on keeping my back straight.

    Bench:
    1x12x44
    1x5x66
    1x5x88
    1x3x110
    1x1x121
3x5x126.5 - PR! Very, very happy with this. They were some of the easiest sets I've done in a long time, got my spotter to lift off with me, could that have made the difference?

A cold has been coming on and off for the past few days, so I'm extra happy that it didn't seem to effect my training. Good day.

Woohoo! Double PR day!! Nice job.

And, to answer your question, a lift off can help in that your able to keep your scapula retracted. The magnitude of the effect obviously depends on how pulled out you get unracking yourself. I know it makes a big difference for me when the weight gets heavy.
