Default Wolf's Log: From Cub to Direwolf

    • starting strength seminar april 2024
    • starting strength seminar jume 2024
    • starting strength seminar august 2024
    Quick recap:

Stuck to the plan (despite my usual huge urge to push the 3rd attempts in squat and bench) and went 9/9 with the lifts all done exactly as planned in the post above.

Squat: 455, 480, 500. All fast. Probably had 515 today.
Bench: 340, 360, 370. All fast. Shoulder felt fine. Probably had 385 today.
Deadlift: 550, 585, 615. First two were fast. 615 was hard but not limit. Probably had 625 today.

1485 total, happy with how today went overall. As a training meet, it did it's job.

Now onto a 2 month plan to total 1550+ in November.

I think as long as the meet was in the eruv, it doesn't count as work. Good job sticking to the plan! [I've been eavesdropping on your log for a couple of weeks now as a fellow New Yorker.]

Nice job Wolf! Congratulations. That'a meet total PR isn't it? 1485 is no joke and clear you'll leave that behind in 2 months. Hope you had fun -- way to go 9/9 too!

Thanks Rob. All my third attempts felt harder than they looked. Even 615 went up reasonably fast. After seeing the vid, Reynolds said I left 400-500lbs on the platform today, ha!

Thanks Gillian. My CCSC t-shirt under the singlet was my secret weapon.

Wow, we're getting serious now with our J-talk, aren't we? I think all of Manhattan is a reshut ha-rabbim, so it's a good thing the meet was at a Newark airport hotel where an eruv is possible.

Hehe--there is a sort of eruv maze in Manhattan. I totally excludes Hell's Kitchen and Tudor City, and you can only enter Tompkins Square from the north or the west. And what happens in Harlem and the West Village resembles nothing so much as a Go game. They should really make a smartphone app, except that I'm pretty sure using an iPhone on the Sabbath counts as making fire or entering into a contract or some such.
