Anytime I tweak my back, I avoid power cleans like the devil- I find it makes things worse.

Qvik qvestion, Herr Wolf- have you found fish oil helps with recovery?

If I was really being a perfect patient, I would probably stop cleaning at 155 or so, but I am too restless. I haven't felt any negative effects though. As it gets better, maybe beginning this Friday, maybe I'll clean to 155, then pull to 275 or 315.

I haven't taken fish oil in 6 months or so. I took it pretty regularly for a few years, first in capsule then in liquid form, and never noticed any positive effects. Kept doing it because inertia. When I ran out earlier this year, I just never replenished. Haven't noticed any negative effects. n=1, YMMV, and all that. The only supplement, literally, that I take is a multivitamin. I maybe have had one or two protein shakes all year, when I couldn't get to food.

    That's what she said (stretch?).

    Press
    230x3x2
    Notes:
A little slow on the 3rd rep, but much better than last week's grinding at 228.5. I think the volume reduction helped.

    Bench Press
    325x4x5
    Notes:
Like the press, felt better and stronger than last week. Reduced assistance work and lowered volume definitely helped here too.

    Pull-downs
    220x11x3
    Notes:
Got to use the one decent attachment for this today, so went well

    DB Rows
    70x10, 80x10
Notes: Weight felt like a toy in my hand, which was cool. I was just testing my back with a little more than Monday, and it was fine.

Tested the waters again today and seems to be OK. I'm not 100% yet and not ready to push anything, but felt good to do a semblance of the movements, with some weight.

    Squat
    45x5x2, 65x5, 75x5, 85x5
Notes: All easy, all felt fine.

    Power Clean
    95x2, 115x2, 135x2, 155x2
Notes: I was lazy and only felt like doing doubles. So I did.

    Deadlift
    185x5, 225x5, 275x5, 315x5
    Notes: All easy, no problems.

Really good news! As you say, don't "push" just on one good experience but have to feel good about today.

Thanks for the good wishes Walter. Unfortunately, it didn't feel that great the rest of the weekend so I think I'm going to scale back a little. Still, I wouldn't have even attempted that a week prior, so progress is progress.

Just when my frustrations over not being able to squat and pull were really starting to get to me, I had a great training day today and I'm feeling accomplished for the first time in while.

    Bench Press
    380x1, 400x1 - PR, 410x1 - PR
    Paused: 345x1, 365x1, 375x1
    Notes:
Big milestone today. None of these were slow, had gas in the tank on every one. May try 420 on Friday. Hell ya!

    Press
    208x3x6
    Notes:
Did I mention I benched 400 and then 410 today?? Presses were fine. I didn't rest long, so could have been easier if I did but I was antsy and jazzed about my bench.

    Chin-Downs
    240x12x3
    Notes:
    I benched 400 and then 410 today.

    DB Row
    90x10
Notes: I benched 400 and then 410 today. These were still easy @ 90, just testing back out at slightly heavier weights, for one set.
