I trained today, but realistically, no one cares. You want to see this amazing video I took of Tom's deadlifts:
Missed my flight to Seattle Wednesday because of horrible traffic, so decided to skip lifting yesterday to let me knee heal up rather than lift early and rush to the airport. Today was rough after the 6 hour flight last night, hopefully just travel and over-reaching combined right now. Left knee pain, both elbows have tendinitis flaring up (esp right), right lumbar and thoracic erector jacked up. A taper will be good.
All weights in kilos at Urban Crossfit in Seattle.
Squat - rehbands, loose belt
7 sets of 4: 165 (beltless), 175, 185, 185, 175, 175, 165
Notes: All sets easy. Probably nothing harder than a 6. Left knee was better than Monday but still some stabbing pain in the patellar tendon (I think) on the way down and up, causing me to shift right. Anticipation was worse than the actual pain, but I but got better as I got more warmed up. Reynolds watched some of the sets and said it was a weird shift right on the way down, back to center at the bottom, and right again on the way up - all to avoid or in anticipation of that knee issue. Not a huge shift though, which is good. Hopefully the taper + working on it manually and e-stim, and some aleve therapy will have it ready for the meet.
Press - belt + wraps
95x2 - no wraps; 105x2, 112x1 @ 9.5, 117xF, 125 walkout, 110x1 @10 (WTF), 105x2 @9.5, 100x4 @9 - better
Notes: Welp, this sucked. Taking out 80kg (176) felt about as heavy as 205 and that's when I got worried. My press has been on a big upward linear trajectory and I've piled on a lot of volume, so I suppose this isn't unexpected, but I did want to hit a single at 120-122kg today, and I missed 258. Not a good confidence booster in my last heavy pressing before the meet, but if the taper does the trick, I'll be good.
Deadlift
100x5, 140x3, 160x3, 180x3
Notes: All felt ok on back. Didn't move up because every time I have the past couple weeks, it's made it worse. No idea what to expect at the meet. 545? 585? 615? 650? 315?!?!
CGBP
130x5, 140x5, 150x3 @7.5, 160x3 @3 @ 9.5, 140x5, 130x5
Notes: Not as bad as the press, but still a little weaker than it's been. Hopefully an indication that this is just general fatigue that will dissipate and result in all teh gainz.

Damn, I didn't even know Tom lifts.
Ouch!
Tom travels quite a bit. Between his photography work, SS seminars, the European tours, etc... his training schedule is quite choppy and interrupted. Plus he used to be 6'2" 117. He squatted 155 kg x 5 x 3 and pulled this 197kg x5 very solidly today. Considering how much of my life I arrange and re-arrange around training, I'm quite sure that If I traveled half as much as Tom, I damn sure wouldn't be creeping up on a 600 squat.
My sentiments, in song.
