Imagine the gym version of "Bitches man, whatareyagonnado?" accompanied by a sad shake of the head and a resigned shrug.

    Default Monday, 5/14

    Bench = 3" belt, wraps
    352.5x5x5 - PR
Notes: Fourteen months ago, I did 350x5x4 and the fifth set for 7 reps, so this doesn't really feel very consequential in terms of PRs, but I'll take it.

    Press - 4" belt, wraps
    260x1, 235x3, 240x3x2
Notes: Meant to do this first but had already set up the bench and done a couple warm-up sets so did pressing afterwards. Nothing much to report here.

    Deadlift - beltless, 1.5" mats
    445x3, 465x3x2
Notes: Warmups felt great, work sets didn't feel great. That is all.

    Leg Press

Now that I will soon no longer be tethered to the gym, perhaps my Manhattan days are numbered as well.
I know a great New Hampshire basement gym that has AT LEAST two clients, a ceiling too low for big presses, and probably enough plates for you to deadlift effectively. Don't miss out on this once in a lifetime opportunity!

A super fun training session with a big group of SSCs at a big, spacious gym before the seminar yesterday, really hammered home how much I still enjoy this stuff, and how my current gym situation was sucking the life out of me by constantly putting me in situations where there was a strong connection between training/coaching and unhappiness. I'm excited to be out of that soon.

    Bench - 3" belt
    405x1x4 @7.5-8
    365x3 @7

    Press - 4" belt + wraps
    205x5x5 - easy

    Deadlift, 1.5" mat - 3" belt
    585x1, 620x1, 655x1 - PR, 675x1 - PR
Notes: I really don't know what to say here, this was such a massively gigantic surprise. I'm confident I could have pulled 675 back in summer and fall of 2015 before my shoulder injury, but my DL hasn't ever really felt fully unhindered since then. Recently my volume work in the mid to high 400s has been good, but heavy work hasn't felt great. For example, my 585 single last week was OK, but didn't fly up like a warm-up. This was just one of those days when everything mysteriously felt awesome, and instead of being conservative and sticking with my plan of working up to a single at 600 then hitting some back-off doubles in the 545-565 range, I just went for broke.

585 flew up so instead of 600, I went to 620 - because that would've been the 5th most I've pulled (done 615 several times, but only 4 weights, done 5 times, over 615). And 620 flew up. WTF. 655 for a small PR, still moved fast. So went for a long time goal of 7 plates, and hit 675 solidly, though no longer easily. I feel it all over today, but am super stoked and excited about it.

Nice pull! I'm glad to see things are healing up and the pr's are happening again.
