Great workout this afternoon, my last real lift before next Saturday's RPS Christmas Carnage meet with Kong. PR'd all three lifts in the context of the workout, without going to absolute limit on any of the three.

    Squat
    45x5x2, 155x5, 235x3, 325x2, 395x1, 465x1, 485x1 - PR, 465x1x3
5 heavy singles at 465, except the 2nd at 485 which is a 10lb PR. All 5 were really tight and smooth, no doubt that all would go up. Felt awesome, my squat hasn't been this locked in in a while.

    Bench Press
    45x5, 135x5, 225x3, 275x2, 315x1, 365x2 - PR, 335x1 - Paused, 365x1 - Paused PR, 375x1 - Paused PR
A heavy double, followed by 3 heavy paused singles. The 365 double was both a PR and a limit set - the 2nd rep must have taken 30 seconds. At least 3 separate moments in there where I didn't think I had it, but kept pushing and this week I had a better spotter who let me grind it out.
335 paused was easy, 365 was pretty hard, 375 was hard but probably had 5-10 more lbs in me. And this is after the 365 double to almost failure. Felt great.

    Deadlift
    185x3, 325x2, 435x1, 505x1, 535x1 - PR, 555x1 - PR
Wanted to test my Deadlift since I haven't done a full pull for a couple months, and figured better to do it today with a week to recover, than Tuesday when I'll work up to openers. The 505 was pretty easy, 535 hard but clearly had more in the tank so went to 555. It was a slow pull but at no point did I worry it wouldn't go up. Probably had 10-20 more lbs in me if I pushed to the limit.

All in all a great day. Now we're off to my favorite NYC restaurant for an all you can eat steak-and-meat-fest with Josh and Shelley. Meat-eating PRs to follow.
Whoa. You....are.....STRONG!! I think it's about time to accuse you of steroid abuse..

    Land mammalia made me laugh.

Thanks Steve, I'm working on it though don't consider myself strong yet. Compared to an average Joe maybe, but not someone my size who lifts seriously. "Strong" is always relative, but I'll consider myself strong when I total elite. This seems to vary by federation. For a 242 lifter, USAPL requires an 857.5kg total, which is 1887. RPS, which put on the meet I did in May and this one, require a 1605 total. Raw Unity, I believe, is 1625. So even that standard of considering myself strong is somewhat relative. 550/425/630 would get me there for RPS, if I don't move up to 275. That seems strong enough to me to be considered "strong," though I would still want to get strongER.

Goal for this meet is 1430. If I'm having a great day I should be able to push 1500. But the main thing is to be stronger than I was in May, when I totaled 1330 (440/360/530).

Let's hold off the calls for 'roid abuse though! My only supplement the last few months has been a daily multi-V. I was doing post-workout shakes and fish oil before that for a long time, but stopped. My supp stack is food (lots of it) and lifting.

    110kg MSIC is 855kg

400 wilks will get you in the door of any big time USAPL/IPF meet in America.

400 wilks at 242 (weighing in at 241.8) is a 1500 total. For USAPL, that puts you just below a Class 1 lifter (http://www.usapowerlifting.com/lifte...ipfclass.shtml). I suppose that should get you in the door, though seems a bit low for something like Nationals.

Wolf, youre looking at the single ply standards. That is why they are so much higher than other feds.

That makes sense Tom, and I wondered why they were so much higher. But where do you see that/where is it indicated on the site? Or is it just "everyone knows"?

I think there may be some raw classifications on the ipf homepage but it may just be standards for the unestablished WR. Raw is pretty new stuff to IPF and even USAPL. I know those are for single ply because a buddy of mine competes single ply in the USAPL. I am on my phone atm but I may be able to provide something more useful/definitive later.

lol I made the exact same mistake after you put the "elite" idea in my head. I was wondering why is one 200 pounds more than the others. This would make sense.

I spoke with Matt today and after discussing the circumstances and logistics, decided I'd be better off doing the meet as a 275. I've emailed the meet director to get his approval, and if I get it, will immediately start eating like a fiend so as not to be such a light 275. I have been floating at about 257-258. I'd like to thank Jordan (of Jordan's Road to Raw Nationals fame) for volunteering to help coordinate my first cut. I feel like an ass for bailing. That said, Jordan is current sporting an impressively pedophilic moustachio, so it's probably OK to disassociate myself from him right now.

Today was the last lift before the meet. Worked up to squat and bench openers, did some back off sets, and then some cleans to get in light pulling.

    Squat
    45x5x2, 135x5, 225x3, 315x2, 405x1, 475x1, 365x3, 315x5
I warmed up slightly differently than usual - I don't like 90lb jumps, but did them today as prep in case that's necessary on Saturday. The 475 was tight and smooth, no trouble at all.

    Bench Press
    45x5, 135x5, 225x3, 315x1 - Paused, 365x1 - Paused, 315x3, 275x5

    Power Clean
    135x3, 165x3, 190x3, 215x3, 240x3
    Easy.

I feel really ready. Based on Saturday and today's workouts, openers will be:

    Squat - 475
    Bench - 365
    Deadlift - 545

I could chase 1500 if I'm having a great day. Baseline goal is still 1430.
