True, true. Glad to provide some comic relief. I couldn't describe how far I rolled my eyeballs when she said that if she lifts more weight her muscles won't fire properly. A PT-Assistant! Ugh.

I'd trade the fun and silly stories for access to your gym in half a heartbeat!

Thanks man. But I understand my buddy J-Figgy has recently done 565 then 500x5x5 from a not insignificant deficit. It may not have been after squatting, but still. I gotta work to get back on track. 650 or bust in November.

Yeah, it can be amusing. But I'd bet good money that the doofs I saw Tuesday night trying to do power cleans would have been escorted out the door real quick if they'd been at CCSC. Or any place that actually knows anything, for that matter.

    1. I don't understand dropping 135 pound power cleans
    2. If you feel like you have to drop them, why are you using rubber coated plates rather than two 45's out of the two completely full racks of bumper plates lined up next to the platform you're on?!?!

Thank goodness I only have to be in contact with stupidity like this when I travel. I'll be more than happy to be back in my garage with me, myself and I.

By the way. Nice squats, Wolf.

Most definitely! The short skinny man does skinny people credit.

    Tues: Squat Volume, Deadlift
Thurs: Press Intensity, Bench Volume, Chins, Press & Bench assistance stuff
    Fri: Squat Intensity, Power Cleans
Do you think that doing heavy weighted chins and fatiguing your lats the day before you deadlift could be a problem down the track?

I've thought about this. We'll find out.

    Squat
    455x1, 440x5
Notes: My nod to the September meet I'm doing as a tune-up is doing a slightly heavier single prior to my planned intensity work. These weren't too hard, bar speed was fast except for the 5th rep of 440, where I started lifting with my chest too early.

    Power Clean
    45x3, 135x3, 165x3, 185x3, 205x3, 225x3, 235x3x2
Notes: Jumped to 235 for the two top sets. Not hard, but I did split just a bit on some of the reps, for no apparent reason. It's been a long time, years, since I did power cleans this fresh. Forgot how nice that is.

    C2 Erg
    20s Row / 1:40 Rest x 8 @ RPE: 8,9,10,10,10,10,10,10
Notes: A couple strokes got down to 1:20/500m pace, which is faster than I've ever done. Two of these completed at a 1:23/500m pace, which I think is as fast as I've ever done an erg interval. Even when I rowed a 500m in 1:27 or 1:28 back in 2009 or 2010, I don't think I could get any single stroke below 1:25. So this was interesting.

Back to page three between Friday and Monday. Nice. Bench Intensity and Press Volume.

    Bench Press
    355x1 - paused, 342.5x5 - PR

Notes: Did my one slightly heavier rep before my 5-er, and since it was bench intensity day, did it paused. Went up pretty fast. Happy with how this went considering it was my first paused bench rep in 9 months. And I still got my new 5-rep PR at 342.5x5 even after doing that. Huzzah.

    Press
    185x5x5
    Notes:
Since going down to 180 was pretty conservative, and fairly easy last week, I made a 5 lb jump this week. No prob.

    Chins
    BW x 7 x 3

    Other Assistance Stuff:
Lat Pulldowns - overhand, wider grip
    160x10x2

can you talk more on your new 1/2" shoes. I got my finger on the trigger for sure on them.

I wont be using them to deadlift in. But how have they effected your low bar? Is there any noticeable different between the 1/2 and the 3/4ths you have?

(youre like the only guy I know who has them)

Stroupster, I can't say I've noticed any significant difference in how performing the squat feels. However, I will say that with the half inchers, I have less of a tendency to get a little loose and forward at the bottom, which is one of the issues I was constantly battling previously. So even though I don't feel it while performing the movement, something is obviously different in a good way.

I do like them for pulling too, just sayin.
