This was one of the most memorable weekends of my life. The American Open, Icemageddon in Dallas, a normally two hour drive from Dallas to Wichita Falls taking seven hours and passing literally hundreds of cars, trucks and semis abandoned, flipped over, spun out, stuck in ditches, or crashed into each other. We spun out twice, both times at 8 MPH and there was a 1.5-2 hour stretch where we did not exceed 12 MPH.
This or similar was not an uncommon sight for the first 5 hours of the drive:

THEN the seminar. Then introducing Nick to whiskey and The Big Lebowski. Etc.
Training, however, took a hit. I missed Friday altogether, as planned, but couldn't make it up on Saturday since we didn't get in to WF till after 3pm (was planning to lift during lunch break; we got in the car in Dallas around 8am). So I squatted and pulled at lunch on Sunday, but then am missing today again because we watched the big lebowski till 2am so couldn't wake up early enough to train before heading back to the airport. I'll figure out how to get it all in for the week, and let Nick talk about his AO performance and lessons learned. I'll chime in there.
Sunday, 12/7
Squat
315x5x3
Notes: Felt good to get under 3 plates again. Felt fine, looks fast and explosive on video.
Deadlift
430x5
Notes: Despite having to pull in my higher heeled shoes, these felt pretty good. Fast and in good position for all 5 reps. The road back continues to go well. I finished the set of 5 just as Rip came back from lunch, and his comment was "What is that, a bodyweight set of 5?" Always good for a nice ego boost!
