Switched my coaching schedule around so I could train in the morning today, so I could get a last lift in with Sarah before she departs. I generally hate training in the morning, but at least this wasn't early morning. Still, was definitely worth it. Though a short-lived partnership, Sarah was the best training partner I've had, and the only consistent one in all the years I've been doing SS style training. It was immeasurably valuable and I will miss it, and her, a lot.
Squat
470x3x2
Notes: Felt pretty good about these. Haven't watched the vid yet, but other than the last rep of the second set, I thought they were pretty good.
Deadlift
535x5 - 10# PR
1" Deficit DL
425x5x2
Notes: Not as clean or as smooth as Our Locomotive last week, but still plenty of gas in the tank here. I didn't squeeze up as solidly as I have been, but there don't seem to be any ill effects.
My grip was just shit today though. My hook on the left hand wasn't strong so I had to switch to a mixed grip for the 5th rep. For my deficit pulls, I stayed at 425; 20 lbs more than my last deficit pulls a couple weeks ago, but the same weight I used for haltings last week. Though my grip was a weak point, I held on to all of them DOH and beltless no problem. Today, I could barely DOH even one rep at 425. I switched to the hook for the next 4 reps on both sets. My grip and thumbs weren't even loving holding the rower handle during conditioning, and my thumbs are still sensitive and hurt a bit now, 2 hours later. Weird. Small price to pay for today's lifts though, no big deal.
