Take some geezling wisdom Wolf: forget about what "could/should/might" have been and forget about last year. I've only been lifting for 3.5 years but I've had more setbacks than I can remember and frankly, they are unavoidable and part of the whole thing. Bo Jackson might have been the best athlete in history but the dude had some bad luck. Dan Marino should have won a super bowl. A-Rod could have not been a complete asshole. (Had to throw in a joke there).

    Indeed. And BO KNOWS.

I don't go around day-dreaming about what could have been, but whenever I think about what I'm doing now, it's hard not to think about what I was doing last spring, and how I should have hit these numbers probably in July last year, 8 months ago. But that's neither useful nor productive. All we can do is forge forth. So, get this shoulder all the way better (seems to be on its way, albeit slowly), and hit my goals in 2014.

    My main ones are, individually:
    555 squat
    700 deadlift
425 bench press (paused at a meet; a 450 t-n-g in training would be cool too)
    275 press (come on already!)
and a 1655+ total to qualify as pro at 275.

All should be do-able this year, and I should have more in the tank too, barring further injury or unexpected setback.

    Perspective. A lot of perspective.

Shoulder continuing to improve, but still nagging some on bench. Still, better is better. Weird to train by myself too, harder to get psyched up.

    Press
    195x5x3, 155x10
Notes: A little slower and heavier feeling than I'd have liked but no problems.

    Bench Press
    295x5,5,8
Notes: This was also slower and heavier feeling than I'd have liked. Definitely have lost a couple steps from 3 months ago when I was doing 325x5x5 or so for volume, and thinking it was on the easy side. Shoulder irritated a bit by benching. I may take another week off the bench and focus on LP-ing the Press 2x/week, to see if that speeds up the healing process. In the long run, an extra week or two off bench won't make a difference. The goal is to get back to pain free and full strength, not to eke out a few more pounds while still being hampered by injury.

Erectors a little better adjusted today. Finally.

    Weighted Chins
    BW+45 x 5,5,5
    Notes:
Fifth rep was kinda iffy on whether I got my chin over, or only to, the bar. May have to repeat this weight.

    TRX Rows
    12, 10, 10
Notes: Lowered the handles after the first set was too easy.

    DB Curls
    50x8x2

Goals are good. Those look doable to me-- get it! I hope I'm there to see a bunch of those milestones too. You are lifting on Dr. P's team in July right? I heard J-dog is coming up for that meet. You guys are going to be a scary-strong team!

Ya they should be do-able and more, provided shoulder continues to heal and then no big setbacks this year. 600/440/725 shouldn't be out of reach by the end of the year. But first things first, stay healthy. If 2014 is like 2013, no chance. If it's like 2012, then I'll probably get there.

Jordan's coming up? I hadn't heard about this. That would help us crush the wilks.

Jordan has yet to confirm or deny whether or not he will be making an appearance in July, but since Rob said it, I will assume that it is true and will proceed accordingly (by accordingly I mean that I will make sure Rori harasses him until he registers for the meet). Also, Niki is rumored to be making the trip to NY to compete with the rest of the girls Rori is rounding up. Should be a good time.

Since we are just going to assume all these rumors are true, HOLY SHITBALLS this is going to be an awesome weekend!

Previously I might have thought the confluence of so much awesomeness in one place at one time would be, well...

But if the only competent DPT in the country says so, then perhaps that word doesn't mean what I think it means.

I know a few folks up here that tend to do rps in Long Island. Sounds like a fun time if y'all are gonna be around. I may have to get a day pass from the boss
