Setting PR's on 2 different lifts in the same session is awful?
Unfortunately, neither of those lifts are even close to PRs for me. I squatted 435x6 back in June:

From a training standpoint, things have gone downhill considerably from about that time.

I hope I can someday consider those lifts awful.
Thanks for the encouragement, Adam. I realize my comments often sound whiny. Not my intent.

    9/17

    Bench - 45x15x2, 135x5, 185x3, 225x2, 275x1, 305x6, 275x8, 7, 5
    Chins - BWx5, BW+65x3x3, BWx11

    9/18

Stationary Bike Intervals - 8 rounds of 20/1:40, 30 minutes total

I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Nah it doesn't sound like you're whining. It's called keeping it real. The gains aren't linear anymore and the weights are heavy and he balance between volume/intensity/nutrition/rest/frequency is always close to the edge. I like reading your log, I learn a lot and it keeps me motivated.

You weren't being whiny at all. You hold yourself to high standards, and that's why you're successful. But sometimes it helps me to take a step back and look at the progress I've made against a broader background, and I just meant to remind you that despite your bad days in the gym, you're a strong, strong, big, strong bastard. We all want more pounds on the bar. But we're all far, far stronger and better than we would have been had we not put in the time and energy we already have.

Thanks, guys. Unfortunately, today was another very sub-par training session. The amount I have regressed in the squat and deadlift over the course of the last several months is really disappointing.

    9/20

    Squat - 45x15x2, 135x5, 185x5, 225x5, 275x5, 310x5, 330x5, 350x5
    Deadlift - 185x3, 275x2, 365x1, 455x1, 515x1x3

Pulled three very grindy, slow singles with 515. Considering I pulled 520x8 last year, 575x2 in the spring, and 530x5 over the summer, this is pretty awful. Obviously what I am doing is not working. I am going to take a few days and try and figure out a solution to get things moving in the right direction again.

I hope everyone enjoyed the weekend. Hopefully the Giants decide not to suck too badly today.

And you pulled 589 at the SBWC spring meet..

Maybe you've lost weight or are sleeping poorly during the new school year?

Giants look OK but it's only the beginning of the 2nd half!! Edit: they suck

Thanks, guys. So after thinking about where to go from here, I decided to run an LP for a few weeks to get my strength back up. One of the things Andy always asked when things weren't going well is whether or not I felt like I was doing too much or not enough. While decreasing my volume and frequency over the summer definitely helped my back and hip calm down, my strength steadily backslid. Hopefully this LP helps get things back on track. This is what I did this past week:

    9/22

    Squat - 45x15x2, 135x5, 185x3, 225x2, 275x1, 315x5x3
    Press - 45x5, 95x5, 135x3, 165x1, 185x5x3
    Deadlift - 135x5, 225x3, 315x2, 405x5

    9/24

    Squat - 45x15x2, 135x5, 185x3, 225x2, 275x1, 335x5x3
    Bench - 45x15, 135x5, 185x3, 225x2, 255x1, 285x5x3
    Chins - BWx12, 12, 11

    9/26

    Squat - 45x15x2, 135x5, 185x3, 225x2, 275x1, 315x1, 355x5x3
    Press - 45x5, 95x5, 135x3, 165x1, 187x5x3
    P. Clean - 135x3, 185x2, 225x3x5

I hope everyone enjoyed the weekend.
